Thanks for visiting our website.  If
Jim Lewis and Conway Horn of NOMadnessMasks.com
you've been in our shop, you know that Katrina did not keep us down for long.  We were closed right after the storm for a little over 7 weeks, but we are open and continue to be a part of this beautiful city that we call home.  We want to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their help and continued support as our city continues to rebuild.  If you haven't been back to the city since the storm or you've never been here before, please come on down.  Our economy is based a lot on tourism and all of us small business owners are doing what ever we can to let everyone know that the city is ready for you.  Now a little bit about our masks.

All of our masks are hand made and hand molded, one of a kind. They are molded out of a buckram material, which is a white cotton starchy fabric. After we mold the mask we then cover it with a decorative material on the back, draw out our own designs and then cover it on the front side as well. Then we wrap it to give it a clean edge and trim it with sequins. The spikes that you see on most of the masks are actually clear drinking straws that we cut at an angle, individually glue in and then airbrush them on the mask. All of the stones on the masks are Swarovski Austrian Crystals. The feathers we use are called Coque feathers and they are hand dyed and then sewn together in strips so that when we put them on the mask, it gives it a fuller look. Each mask is signed and numbered one of one, we never re-create the same mask twice. We can make one similar, depending on the availability of material, but it will never be alike. We also name all of the masks, kind of gives them their own personality. All the masks are made to wear, however, some people do collect and others just want something to hang or display as a piece of art. The small masks take anywhere from 10 to 25 hours to complete and the large ones take anywhere from 30 to 80 hours to complete from beginning to end.

Custom orders are available. If you have a specific idea or color combination that you would like, we can usually sketch something up for you and go from there. Most large masks, we do require that you give us 3 to 4 weeks to complete on customs and small ones, a week to 10 days. It really just depends if we have the supplies in stock or not. All custom orders are required to be paid in full before we start on the mask. Price will depend upon the size and quantity of stones that are used. All custom orders are cut off during peak season of Mardi Gras. Last day for custom orders to be taken is December 31st or earlier depending on the number of custom orders we have at that time.

Like we said, each mask is one of a kind and a labor of love goes in to each one of them. We've been doing masks for a little over 13 years and have been in our gallery for the last 6 years. If you are ever in our wonderful city, please stop by and see us. Also check out our website regularly, we try to update it on a daily basis. The archive section will show you what we have done in the past and the current section shows you what is available at present. We don't have a secure server, so you have to contact us by email or by phone to order. We do ship anywhere and have pretty much all over the world.

Hours of operation: We are open 7 days a week - Monday through Friday 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10a.m. to 6p.m.
